Disconnecting and Logging Off

When you have finished working on ThinHost for the day it is important that you log off correctly by clicking the Start Menu and choosing “Log Off”. If you do not logoff properly your session will eventually be automatically logged off and you may lose some work.

You also have the option to “minimise”, “resize”, or “disconnect” ThinHost by using the yellow bar (as shown above) which appears when you place your mouse in the top middle of your screen. The “disconnect” function is very useful if you need to close your computer down, but want to continue working from another computer (your home office for example). If you disconnect ThinHost, by clicking the X symbol, your entire ThinHost environment will remain active on the server until you login again from another computer.  At this point all your applications will reappear exactly as you left them.

Important: Please note that “disconnecting” and “logging off” are not to be confused, and there are some disadvantages to disconnecting:

1.   If you disconnect (leaving your ThinHost “session” running) you will be automatically logged off after 4 hours of inactivity.

2.   Your printers will stop working upon reconnecting and you will need to logoff and logon again to reactivate them inside ThinHost.
